The work shapes the risk

A useful account description starts with what employees actually do.

Industry labels are only a starting point. Duties, locations, equipment, transportation, subcontracting, staffing patterns, shifts, customer contact, and safety controls explain the actual exposure.

CONSTRUCTION

Construction and skilled trades*

Roofing, concrete, masonry, excavation, field supervision, subcontracting, heights, travel, and the exact trade mix change the account story.

TRANSPORTATION

Trucking and commercial fleets*

Local, regional, or long-haul operations; radius; vehicle type; driver controls; cargo; and loss trends matter more than the word “trucking.”

STAFFING

Staffing and labor supply*

Client industries, worksite control, payroll by class, contracts, onboarding, safety responsibilities, and concentration by customer deserve clear explanation.

DELIVERY

Last-mile and parcel delivery*

Routes, vehicle ownership, driver status, delivery density, loading activity, contracts, and operational controls help define the exposure.

HEALTHCARE

Healthcare and senior services*

Home health, assisted living, skilled nursing, rehab, patient handling, transportation, staffing patterns, and facility operations create different questions.

MANUFACTURING

Manufacturing and fabrication*

Processes, machinery, guarding, material handling, shifts, maintenance, products, and safety controls help a reviewer understand the real work.

AGRICULTURE

Agriculture and field operations*

Seasonality, labor structure, machinery, transportation, field work, housing, and the specific crop or operation need to be described precisely.

DISTRIBUTION

Warehousing and distribution*

Forklifts, loading docks, material handling, drivers, temporary labor, shift patterns, automation, and loss controls shape the submission.

SECURITY

Security services*

Armed or unarmed duties, venues, patrol activity, transportation, training, contracts, schedules, and escalation procedures can materially change review.

FIELD SERVICES

Other hazardous or complex operations*

Start with actual employee duties and the public partner profile. Industry examples are conversation starters—not a promise that every class or state is available.

* Context matters.Rules, appetite, calculations, and available options may vary by state, bureau, carrier, operations, and current underwriting guidance. Confirm specifics with the applicable authority or an authorized insurance professional.

CONTEXT MATTERS

Industry does not create automatic eligibility

A broad industry label cannot determine the right carrier, program, price, or outcome. Current state rules, classification, operations, payroll, experience, and available market guidance remain controlling.
